I've been visiting Kismat for years now. I've always appreciated it's surroundings and authenticity. The food is really good and the spices and flavors are always so warm and welcoming. Being located in a very tightly knit area of Washington Heights I think it's fair to say its one of the best in the area. I highly recommend it to those looking for some authentic Indian food. Enjoy!!!

This is the kind of place that has developed a following of regulars, and you can feel it in the place. Very, everybody knows your name. If that's what you are looking for and you like Indian food, this is the place for you. The crowd seems to typically be 30+. They have a long happy hour 1p to 8p week days. They also have a $20 brunch 11:30a to 3p on Sundays. Live jazz on Friday evenings.

I've been eating here for the past couple years and their food is pretty good but recently they raise the prices and lowered the amount of food that they give. The dish here is salmon Tandoori. I don't understand how you can give two pieces of fish in charge 19.99. I understand things are tough so raise prices but why make the amount less? I'm not eating here ever again.

When you offer tandoor you should at least ensure that you've marinated the meat not slapped it on 30 seconds before you serve it. The food was okay if you're ravenous but that's it.

Food is delicious! We go there when we want to treat ourselves to healthy, homemade quality, delicious food. Every entree comes with two small side dishes (lentil soup and cabbage) that are very nurturing. Happy hour is long and the appetizers are very tasty. I recommend papadum and chickpea dishes. The staff is attentive and kind. Service is very good. Hands down our favorite Indian restaurant in NYC.
